A big thank you to Tobias at Sensufaktur for bringing this stunning space age desk to my attention.
In 1970 Ernest Igl designed a desk. Its revolutionary form and unique manufacturing process made it an immediate icon, redefining design standards.
Free from the conventions of fashion and technology, and unconstrained by the need of compatibility, the igl jet got his very own expression.
This September, Fritz Hansen launches the classic and versatile Arne Jacobsen’s ‘Series 7’ chair in seven new colours, including the hot pink one (above) by Arik Levy. This extremely comfortable chair was made famous when Christine Keeler, the woman at the centre of the Profumo Scandal was shot in 1963, sitting nude astride a cheaper version of the now iconic chair. The fake can now be seen in the V&A collection and can be viewed online at the V&A website.
I’ve been coming across more and more Japanese furniture which have a lovely mid century modern vibe to it. This selection is from a store called GRAF but unfortunately the website is in Japanese so there is little more I can say except for enjoy the lovely pictures!
Something a bit different from I Love Retro are these illustrated film prints. There are six films to choose from at present and each one measures 11 x 16 inches. My personal favourite is the ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ one but maybe that’s because it reminds me of my youth seeing as it was one of the books we had to study at school… oh to be 15 again!

Much of the renowned Bauhaus metal furniture could not be obtained in Europe after World War II. To fill the gap Robert Haussmann created in 1954 his famous metal armchair RH-301, made from chrome plated steel it was a tip of the hat to his great idol, Mies van der Rohe.
